Prom Week
Finally! Now we can concentrate on graduation preparation!
We went through three different shades of brown hair color before finally finding a shade that we all agreed looked good on Hannah. My mom keeps asking why she wants her hair colored so dark. I think it's her way of separating herself from me in preparation for leaving. *sob*
The color we ended up liking is called "cinnamon". Anything that was ash brown, had green undertones, and the lady at Sally's Beauty Supply made sure to let Hannah know that her hair was indeed green.
Anyway, My mom came out on Wednesday, while Mark was in Houston at the Space Center with Crista. We went shopping at Town East Mall on Thursday. Hannah found a bag a Icess Bridal fashions. She found hair clips at Claire's, and we exchanged a ring that my Mother-In-Law had gotten her as a birthday present for a bigger size. We had Misty with us, and was amazingly well behaved for a bored almost three yr. old.
Later that evening she took up Hannah's dress because it was a little loose, and a little long.
Thursday she colored her hair. Then, she went home. I took Hannah and Jeffrey to a friends house to take some pics for graduation invitations. I will probably have to retake, because it was just a tad bit past the "magic hour". Mark got back from Houston around 9:00 and left immediately to go work on some heads for a customer who had been calling him the whole time he was gone.*eyeroll*
Friday, Mark left around 10am to catch a flight to Talladega to go party at the redneck version of Mardi Gras. His friends had RV'd up there while he was in Houston. Crista rode the bus home with a friend, Heather had two friends over to stay the night. One of which has a mom that has a garage that has been converted into a nice little beauty shop. Lisa just had a baby boy on April 13th, but is still doing hair and nails for many of the girls around here for prom.
Saturday, we got up early, made breakfast, showered, and got ready to head to the beauty shop. She wanted to get her nails done. She didn't want fake nails, just a nice paint job. Hannah has a nervous habit of chewing on her cuticles, and Lisa assured her that she could "dress" her cuticles. Boy, did she ever! You honestly couldn't tell she'd ever had a problem after Lisa was done. I wish I had taken a before pic.
She drove with her fingers splayed apart after making me fasten her seatbelt, and put the car in gear.
We headed to Megan's house where they would get ready, and meet up with their dates. Megan is Hannah's best friend.
Megan and I had curling irons going on both sides of Hannah's head, and got it fixed up in no time.
The girls weren't quite ready when Jeffrey showed up looking very handsome. Megan had been calling her date trying to find out where he was. He was very late, and driving all the way from Garland, to Sulphur Springs.
Once they were dressed, and decided he just wasn't going to make it there, they decided to have him meet them at Jeffrey's house, which was half way between there, and where they were going.
Megan's mom, and I decided to take pics before they left. I feel awful for Megan, but she handled it well.
Then we went outside and took some pics. While standing out front of the house, I noticed the neighbors yard across the street had some beautiful roses. Megan's mom yelled to the kids "go stand over by those roses!!" LOL They REALLY didn't want to. Her mother assured them the neighbor would not mind at all.
After a couple of shots by the roses, I could tell they were getting irritated with posing. I said "Ok.. now pose however you want.. cut up for a few shots."
And here's what we got...
I almost cried on my drive home all alone. My eyes start to sting, and my heart swells in my throat as I think about how fast her life has flashed by. She's grown up sooooo fast.
