What's next?

Bethany broke her collar bone at her 7th birthday party on Friday.

She was having a really good time, playing with some boys from down the street. The boys were chasing the dogs around the yard, and in the party area under the trees. Tsavo, my border collie, barrelled into Bethany. She was screaming, and crying. Her left knee, left cheek, and left ear all had road rash on them. She wanted to just come inside and lay down. She opened all of her presents, and blew out the candles on the cake all from the couch in the livingroom. I was concerned with the way she was just hanging her arm and wanted to take her to the ER. Mark, my Mother-in-Law, her boyfriend, and the mom of the boys that came to the party all reassured me that she was fine, and it was probably sprained, or just bruised. I felt like they thought I was just over reacting because of all that has gone on with Heather.
Honestly, Bethany has become quite the drama queen here lately, so I had a hard time telling how bad it was as well. I just wanted to find out for sure.
The next morning, Saturday, I took her to the ER. She had an xray.. sure enough, it is completely broken, and overlapping. She has a figure 8 brace holding her arms back a little, and she's taking a tylenol codiene combo. I'll have to take her to an orthopedic Dr. after getting a referral from her Pediatrician on Monday.

Here are some pics from the party... pre chaos.

Update Mid June

Heather is doing excellent. The wound from the infected incision is almost completely healed The wound vac was removed about two weeks ago. Her PICC line was removed the same day since she no longer needed IV antibiotics.
That all led to a very happy birthday for her.
We had a pretty good sized karaoke party. Not as many friends as she had hoped showed up, but she had a blast anyway.
She even went to the races with her dad the next day.

Things were a little rocky with Crista for the first two weeks home. She was jealous of the attention that Heather was getting, and particularly the laptop that MIL got Heather while she was in the hospital. I asked her why she was so angry.. she said "I just don't think it's right that she made herself sick by not taking her medicine like she should have, and now she gets all this stuff." I explained to her that Heather's meds had nothing to do with what happened to her. Before all this happened I had been nagging Heather for not taking her meds when she told me she had.
We thought it was the reason she was so jaundiced, but the infection in her intestines is what was causing the jaundice. Her bilirubin levels had gotten as high as 17 in the hospital. I'm pleased to report that on Monday, June 9th, her bilirubin was an 8! Crista understands a little more now, and is less bitter, and more empathetic.

I don't have the time, or patience to resize pics, and figure out their order, so if any of my readers care to see pics of Heather, and Misty's parties, click on the Photobucket link...
If you aren't squeemish, you can check the progress of the healing of Heather's wound, as well as a variety of other pics, on Flickr...
