Wow.. can't believe I haven't updated since August.
I got a call yesterday from Heather's transplant coordinator yesterday afternoon. She has been listed for her liver transplant. I hate to think what it means for another family for us to get the call.
Heather is anxious to get things over with. She really wanted the colostomy closed up first, but she has some pretty sever portal hypertension from the liver damage. Doing any other surgery before the transplant would result in major blood loss. So.. transplant first.
Haven't mentioned this here, I hate to even talk about.
Crista has been in serious emtotional turmoil since Heather's hospitalization. She claims it has nothing to do with Heather. She had a lot of responsibility thrust upon her while I stayed at the hospital with Heather. She "coped" by cutting herself. After bringing it up with her ped. at an athletic exam, her ped suggested getting her psychiatric help immediately.
Turns out she's got suicide ideation, and self harm tendencies, as well as severe depression. She's 13 and taking prozac, and seroquel. The prozac was increased to 30 mg before she started acting worse. It has been reduced to 20 mg now. She wasn't telling me, or her therapist that she sees once a week what she was feeling, so the psychiatrists recommended she be admitted to a psychiatric hospital right before Thanksgiving. She was acting "normal" so we decided do it after Thanksgiving. It's so hard to take her in, because she seems OK most of the time, but I know she needs something different than prozac.
On a side note... Shad a UIL competition for 1 act play on Monday and was AMAZING. She won best actress out of all the competing schools.
That's all for now..
