Update on Heather

Heather has been at Children's Hospital in Dallas since March 13th. They have determined that she needs a liver transplant once they get her colitis under control. She had C diff. Her large intestine is seriously damaged, and the bleeding is not going away with steroids.
She has lost over 20 lbs in 2.5 weeks.

Heather.. warning of TMI, for the sensitive.

Heather had an u/s last week after the GI dr reviewed her labs. Her bilirubin is up to 6. It was at a 3 when the Dr's recommended we up her does of ursodial to 3x a day 3 weeks ago. The u/s showed some gallstones. Most likely there is one plugging a bile duct.
She is very yellow, almost green. She complains very little, but sleeps a lot. Her body isn't absorbing anything anymore. Everything she eats comes out as a bloody watery mess. She's lost 10 lbs.
The Dr's are FINALLY listening to me after hounding them on the phone, and insisting that there is something very wrong. Her endoscopy, and colonoscopy got rescheduled for Friday, March 14th. She will be admitted on Thursday. It seems like a long time now, but it's better than next Friday, and she doesn't have to spend her spring break on a low residue, low fiber, followed by clear liquids, and an insane amount of Miralax diet.
