Happy 17th, Hannah! (Belated post......)

At Hannah's request, Mark and I took her to Six Flags in Arlington with no other siblings. A huge thanks to the poor grandmother's in charge of watching the other 4 girlies, my deepest sympathy for the chaos you endured.

It's been quite some time since I've been to an amusement park. I thought I'd offer some insight for some others that may not have been for some time.

1) You may be required to pass the same series of security checkpoints as you would when trying to board an airplane.
My fanny pack was poked around in with a wooden spoon, and I had to pass through a metal detector. This makes the lines to enter the park take MUCH longer. I highly suggest buying your tickets ahead of time to at least avoid that wait. After seeing that line, I am so thankful we had ours.

2)There are several different types of people you may be standing in line with while waiting for rides.

a. The 20something year olds that are into exhibitionism and basically dry hump each other in line. We experienced this phenomenon in three different lines. Mark got a pretty good show from a couple standing directly behind us. I had no idea what was going on, but smelled an "odd" smell. I said "What is that smell??". I was later informed that I could not have asked the question at a better to time to have led to embarassment for them. The pervy young man had just pulled his fingers out of skanky girls shorts when I inquired as to the offensive odor. Get a room.

b. Apparently April 8th was a big day for choir/band field trips. There were unattended children 12-14 years of age climbing all over the ropes, bars, and various line barriers. They spewed profanity, bumped into other guests of the park, and basically made me want to disable their seat belt on the ride. Who knew band geeks could be so obnoxious???

c. Line Jumpers.. WTF?

d. The "butidon'twannarideit" group. This has got to be some form of abuse. Be it spouse forcing spouse, parent forcing child, child forcing parent, or friend forcing friend. Nobody should be forced into riding something they don't want to, and nobody should have to listen to the scary reasons they have found not to ride it! (loose bolts, wiggly supports, poor braking system, etc... etc..)

3) Parking is $15,Icecream is $5 a scoop, $3 for a bottle of water or soda.
Thankfully, we ate before going to the park, and Mark's gimped up body wore out before we got too hungry to have to buy food in the park.
I have three more girlies that abosolutely LOVE the idea of getting to go to Six Flags with mom and dad alone this summer..
Now I just need to locate that money tree we planted..
