A sunday drive...
On Sunday I found 2 free hottubs. One on http://dallas.craigslist.org/ in Corinth, and one on Plano's freecycle, in Anna.
We left Heather and Crista to babysit the youngest two, Misty and Bethany. We took Hannah with us because we figured it would take the strength of three to lift the tubs onto the trailer we had borrowed from Marty, a close friend of Mark's.
It was a tight fit in Mark's little S10 pickup. Mark was driving, i was squished in the middle, with my body twisted and my legs pushed off to the right, next to Hannah's. Hannah was squished against the door. We were seated legally, all with seatbelts on. Thankfully, we had completely emptied the back of the pickup of all engine blocks, pistons, heads, carburators, and whatever else pieces of heavy metal that would have smashed in our heads upon impact.
We stopped at a stoplight in Princeton Texas. We were sitting for a good 10 seconds when I heard Mark say "OH SHIT!!!" Then the impact. My head flung forward and hit the rearview mirror. Then immediately flung back and hit the back window. I didn't even know I had hit the mirror. Most of the pain I felt was in the back of my head.
Anyway.. our friends trailer was pushed up under the backend of the truck. His car appeared unharmed, but apparently had a lot of internal damage. There was radiator liquid all over the ground. He had hit as at approx 60 MPH. That's quite an impact. I'm just glad Hannah wasn't in the middle.
Anyway... here's some pictures I took with the new camera I got. My old camera finally died. I got a newer model of pretty much the same camera. It's a Kodak with 6 mp. The old one was 2 mp. Mark still plans to buy me an slr, I just haven't decided whether to go with the Canon rebel xti, or a nikon d80, or better.
Here's the guy's car.
Two shots of the truck
Here's the guy's car going onto the tow truck, and some of the help that arrived. There were a lot of very nice and helpful paramedics, and policemen.

Holy Sith Spawn! Are you okay? I'd expect some serious whiplash from that description! Was the guy behind you just not paying attention? Wow. Big Hugs!!!
We took the same road to go back and get the hottub on monday, and again on tuesday to go prom dress shopping. We estimate that he stopped paying attention to the road for a good 15-20 seconds.
I can't even imagine being stopped in a car at a stop light and not looking up for 20 seconds, let alone driving down the road going 60!
My neck is tight, but I gardened a lot the day before, I don't know what all is from gardening pain, and what is wreck pain.
Holy moley! 60!!! I'm so glad you guy's are ok. I can't believe that's all the damage his car had. I guess all the energy got concentrated to the hitch and the way it peirced into the back of the pick-up bed, it the dissipated the energy!
Wow, someone 'upstairs' was looking after you guys!
that weird my account changed? hmmm - by my pic, I guess you know it's big_daddy
I'll have to see if I can change that back...
